Healthy Living. We all know it’s important but once you start looking at all the factors that go into living a truly healthy lifestyle, it can be overwhelming. How many vegetables should I eat? How much water should I drink? How many hours of sleep do I need?
It can be easy to get lost in all the numbers and all the data that is out there. Though it’s intended to be helpful, information overload is real!
I try to pick a few numbers that I know I need to work on or pay more attention to in my day to day routine.
For example, hydrating is easy for me – I love water in any and every form – tap, sparkling, mineral, you name it.
But prioritizing sleep can be hard especially during COVID. Over the last few months, each week I try and add 15 minutes to my nightly sleep time to increase the amount I sleep from 7 to 8 hours.
Being a health and wellness coach, I also love vegetables (my job would be hard, and not very fun, if I didn’t) and I need to have an easy way to exercise every day.
But I also have two kids and though we are careful with sugar, I believe in everything in moderation. So we have cookies and sweets around the house as part of our small afternoon snack. In the winter, eating a little too much sugar, bread, or an extra snack can happen all too easily. So, I watch my sugar by paying attention to the number of grams of sugar I consume each day.
We all have different things we need to work on – what your number?
Pick 1 or 2 to focus on and don’t worry about the rest. Building new habits takes time and you can’t do it all at once.
